Okay, check it out.
See, when Ted Kennedy died -- y'know, the last Kennedy brother up in Massachusetts -- his Senate seat was up for grabs. Normally, Massachusetts is straight Democrat, so the Dem's didn't even try to campaign, cause they knew they had it. But out of nowhere, this Republican cat, Scott Brown, kicked the door down and pulled the upset.
Dude appealed to everything that was pissing off middle class folks and Independet cats. He knew cats were scared about what Obama was doing and they they were frustrated about not having jobs, so he played off that and snatched the W.
But here's why all this shit matters. Before this, there were 60 Democratic Senators in Congress. That meant that if the Democrats wanted to pass a law, even if every Republican voted against it, there were enough Democrats to vote it through anyway. They had a Super-Majority.
But now that Scott Brown, a Republican, won the Massachusetts Senate seat...well. Democrats won't be able to push thing through. And since no Republican wanted health care reform, the idea, at least for now, is pretty much dead.
But yo, check out the fuuuuull story here:
