about edreys...
In a time when youth culture and inexperience are celebrated, Edreys arrives to pluck the ears of solid Hip Hop enthusiasts. Truly a rare find, this individual boasts incredible talents ranging from an award winning writer and performance emcee, to noted producer. Born and raised on the East side of Buffalo, NY, an untapped source of talent that produced the likes of Rick James, Brian McKnight, and Soullive’s Alan and Neal Evans, Edreys is c reating his own prospects and leaving great impressions when he is allowed new opportunities.
His CMJ chart topping album Raw Intellegence (2002) with longtime collaborator Trevthorne debuted at 12 and peaked in the top 5. Four of the tracks were then used on the Play station 2 game ESPN’s NFL 2k5.
Lyrics ranging from top notch MC swagger, thought provioking issues to street tales coupled with his convincing voice and delivery often draws the likeness and comparisons to Rakim, Nas and Common, yet still able to stand in his own lane respectively.
Today’s listener is looking for someone to make them believe in emcees again. Edreys’ unique approach to hip hop is his ability to capture and charm the listener. No one works harder to rock a stage than Edreys. While today’s rapper brags about effortless subject matters and demands you to pay for his indulgences, Edreys shows and proves his lyrical prowess by getting to the heart of matters, all the while making your head nod. He is the long awaited liberator of an audience held captive by repetitive, vapid, hooks and uninspired lyrics.
