O’ Lord help us find the road to salvation, I know that there lays a place for us souls dying of starvation. Look in my eyes, and I promise I’d lead you to the light, Just hold my hand and sing with me sorrowful songs beneath this mournful night.

Willing to trade my little happiness for a glimpse of peace, Our love for humanity dies daily as more of us kind souls decease. On our waistbands we carry instruments that make us appear tougher, Then we listen to the cries of the night and wish to disappear quicker.

Streams flowing down my cheeks the more prayers I prepare, Tomorrow I know would be much darker, Lord life isn’t fair. But I keep my head up high and try my best not to cry, In my mind it’s so complicated this hurt that I feel, to explain I try.

I want to be able to fly, hold wings and shower all with treasures, Instead I feel splashes of blood up against me, a flood of hurt my heart measures. Damaged from wishes being sent to stars dimmed in twinkling, Then they wonder why they vanish so quickly in the morning.

Who could blame them, I scatter whenever I feel pressure up upon me, Just like the stars that fear anymore sad stories, I fear the destruction of our morality. Take me away, far to a place filled with happy faces that cry not, O’ take me immediately so that I may not witness our great kind blindly rot.

Taking control of the pain that I experience whenever I lay to sleep, Stating that this is the time for me to dream and not to coldly weep. Wise in my ways, sad in my living days, happy when my dreams play, Lost in my own fantasizes, scenes filled with ponds and rainbow rays.

O’ Lord such a place makes me want to flee and reappear when there exists no more tear, Hold us closer and I promise that not one of us would ever let you go, O’ Lord my dear. Wounded from mines planted on the path taken to get some joy and hugs accomplished, Strategies lay to keep me from ever reaching what our people have long for wished.

Now I lay me down to sleep my Lord in hopes I may never wake, For if I do not wake my Lord my soul I beg for you to unhesitatingly take. thiz iz deadacatied to my homeboy Nampa teen dies in police shooting Kendel Murrant kmurrant@idahopress.com Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 NAMPA — A disturbance turned deadly early Friday in Nampa when police opened fire on a teenager officers said came at them holding an object they thought was a knife.

The object turned out to be a large piece of glass. Shooting in 2007Nampa Police Chief Bill Augsburger said the city’s last police shooting occurred almost one year ago.

On March 21, 2007, a Nampa officer shot 30-year-old Anthony Joseph Bosworth, who investigators said had killed an Ada County bail bondsman, Joshua Schmidt, 30, of Meridian, the day before.

According to police, officials from three counties attempted to apprehend Bosworth when he fired several shots at officers. One Nampa officer fired a single shot at Bosworth. He was later pronounced dead at West Valley Medical Center. E-mail story

Rudolph J. Andrade, 19, of Nampa, died about 2:30 a.m. Friday outside a home in the 3000 block of Surgarcane Drive in Nampa.

Officials initially responded to that residence after receiving an emergency call about a disturbance. The caller, who was in the home, told dispatchers Andrade was breaking windows. Police later determined that Andrade and his girlfriend had been arguing.

When officers arrived on the scene, they said they were immediately confronted by Andrade in the street. He was holding a large piece of glass and approached officers, according to Caldwell Police Chief Chris Allgood.

During the confrontation, police said the teenager failed to obey their commands to stop. Two Nampa patrol officers fired their weapons and the teen was hit by gunfire. He died at the scene.

Investigation under way

Nampa officers secured witnesses at the scene immediately after the shooting, according to Nampa Police Chief Bill Augsburger. Investigators determined that Andrade was living at the residence where the shooting occurred, along with Andrade’s girlfriend and her family.

The Critical Incident Task Force, a multi-jurisdictional unit made up of the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Caldwell Police, Idaho State Police, Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office and Nampa Police assembled because of the officer-involved shooting. The task force, led by Caldwell Police Department, is now responsible for investigating the events.

Allgood said Friday it was too early in the investigation to say exactly what led the officers to use deadly force against Andrade.

“We don’t have enough of the investigation to know how close they were or what the dialogue was,” he said. “I would be jumping to conclusions if I did that.”

Few details emerge

Allgood said the officers initially thought Andrade was holding a knife. He said it was too early in the investigation to say how close the suspect was to the officers or if he said anything to them before the shooting.

The two patrol officers involved were placed on administrative leave Friday. While their names were not released to the media, Augsburger said one officer has been with the department for three years, and the other is a new officer who has worked at the agency for several months.

As a general rule, Allgood said police officers are not trained with the mentality of shooting to wound as opposed to shooting to kill. Rather, the chief said they are trained “just to stop the threat.”

“It’s not a question of shooting to be lethal or shooting to injure,” he said. “It’s a question of shooting to stop the threat, and the officers will do that wherever it needs to be.”

The chief said more information on the case would probably be available Monday.

Suspect’s history

At 19, Andrade has had 10 adult criminal convictions since 2005. Some of the charges, all misdemeanors, included alcohol consumption or possession, open container and driving without privileges.

On Dec. 6, 2007, Andrade was arrested on a domestic battery charge in Nampa and had a no-contact order in place relating to that case. No resolution to that charge had been entered before Andrade’s death. He had been placed on unsupervised probation on Jan. 7, which was to last for 12 months.

A friend of Andrade said he worked as a cook at a local restaurant and was active in the local rap music community before his death.

John Granados, 21, said he met Andrade several years ago during summer school and the two have spoken frequently since.

“I knew him really well,” Granados said. “He was a good person.”

Andrade’s father, Rudolph Andrade Sr., was traveling from California Friday to visit his son’s body, KTVB-TV reported Friday evening.

“I was called at 3 in the morning and told that my son had been shot by police,” Andrade Sr. said in a telephone interview with the station. “I couldn’t even talk … I had to hand the phone to my old lady, and I just couldn’t talk after that.”
