Portland Hip Hop Shops
I consider Portland a sister city of Seattle the same way Seattle is a small sister city to SF. I try to get down to the PDX at least 3-4 times a year just to do some tax free shopping and to peep out a few of the art galleries and urban clothing shops in town. During my recent visit to pick up some art work that a good friend of mine Peekaboo had stored in a local coffee shop we stopped in a few local spots to peep out some gear and art.
If you are a sneaker head, like vinyl Japanese toys and urban contemporary art then be sure to check out the one stop hip hop shop, Compound Gallery at 107 NW 5th Avenue, Portland, OR 97209, ph: (503) 796-2733, web: Justbetoys.com

This section of the PDX has seen a recent facelift and there are cool art spaces, bars and coffee shops springing up everywhere in this neighborhood. Right across from Compound is the all too familar Upper Playground store at 23 NW 5t Avenue, Portland, OR, ph: (503) 548-4835. Open M-Sat 11am – 8pm and Sunday 12pm – 6pm. The Fifty 24PDX Gallery is also connected to the same space and is open Wed-Sat 12pm – 7pm or by appointment. You can check their website at: Fifty 24PDX.
Another cool gallery space to check out is Tender Loving Empire at 1720 NW Lovejoy (corner of 18th) #109, Portland, OR. Check the recent gallery showings at: Tender Loving Empire. They have the gallery, fresh gear and comics.
Portland does their First Thursday Gallery Walk year around and you can see the gallery maps and locations at: First Thursday
Bookmark this page as I’ll continue to add some info on PDX nightclubs and nightlife.
