“Brand New Funk” - Review of DJ Jazzy Jeff’s The Return Of The Magnificent
For those of you who were 80’s babies you may know DJ Jazzy Jeff as the asshole best friend of Will Smith on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, but most hip hop fans know him as being one half of the group DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Jeff has came a long way from his radio-friendly production style in the late 80’s and shows it on his new album, which is definitely not going to blow up on the radio, but it is far from a one-dimensional album. With features from respected hip hop artists such as Big Daddy Kane, Method Man, Rhymefest, and Pos of De La Soul, you would think the rest of the album would be filler with new artists with names like Eshon Burgundy and Twone Gabz. Instead, the album is actually easily played through without touching the skip button.
