“A Breath Of Fresh Air” - Joell Ortiz's The Brick: Bodega Chronicles Review
Every six or so months we have a new rapping sensation that comes on to the scene with swagger, punch lines, and something that makes you replay his songs several times. His mix tapes get passed around like Paris Hilton, and his name is a topic of every barbershop and blog-site alike. His bio just sticks to you and find yourself saying, “I got his back! He’s a breath of fresh air to the game.” And then suddenly…this experience is completely gone. This is what we call a ‘buzz’. And unless an artist hops on that buzz swiftly, he can miss that opportunity. I’m not here to discuss a buzz-worthy rapper though. I’m here talking about the debut of a brother people considered a future great. He’s passed that buzz stage. He’s ready for big time, and he’s going to be here for a long time. We’re talking about Joell Ortiz.
