Four Points On March Madness
This is one of, if not the greatest times to be a sports fan in America. The skies become more blue, signalling the arrival of that everlasting symbol of hope, spring. The NFL Draft lets you satiate your hunger in the weeks after the Super Bowl. Baseball season begins in less than a week. But this time is the grand climax of college basketball, the NCAA Tournament, simply known as March Madness. The first day of tournament action may as well be declared a national holiday. You’ve got people who don’t know a damn thing about the game or the team filling out brackets for office pools. Bars and restaurants overflow with spectators. Over the past couple of weekends, I’ve gotten a chance to check out some of the action and I’ve basically come to four conclusions.
