Canada's Top Breakdancers Attempt New World Record

- news link from Jewels, about 1 year ago

Canada’s top breakdancers will come together at Vaughan Mills shopping centre on March 23, as they attempt to set a new world record during a 24-hour dance-a-thon. Breakin’ for Cancer is an all-star dance troupe who will be raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society by breakdancing for a minimum of 24 hours non-stop, while vying for the Guinness Book of World Records Longest Breakdance Circle title.

The inspiration behind the event came from one of Canada’s premiere breakdancers, B-BOY Troy and Sole Power, an entertainment, production, management and promotions company. In February 2007, Troy lost his father after a long battle with liver cancer. In his memory, Troy and Sole Power joined forces to develop and produce Breakin' for Cancer. The goal of the event is to raise $20,000. One hundred per cent of the profits will go to the Canadian Cancer Society, specifically to help families in need who have suffered a loss from cancer.

To keep the dancers going throughout the night, Scratch Lab DJ Institute, Canada’s first DJ school, will provide all of the DJs, including DJ Starting From Scratch (Flow 93.5 fm), Baba Kahn (three time DJ of the year), Jr Flo (World I.T.F champion), and DJ Grouch (North American Turntable champion).
