Halfrican Revolution has some good commentary on the recent San Francisco Chronicle article discussing the inclusion of Hip-hop in academic courses of study. dnA writes:
The fact is that Hip-hop is the dominant artistic, intellectual and aesthetic movement of our generation. Its increasing legitimacy in Academia raises concerns about its redefinition as an academic pursuit, which would remove control over the culture from those who invented it.
