"Brazilian Esfrie" - Review of Seu Jorge's Cru
Seu Jorge’s voice is arresting. It is pristine. It is a sound you feel in your chest. He growls, moans, grunts, and pleads on his album Cru. This album did not receive much respect or attention in its U.S. release. It is an unorthodox album from an unorthodox artist who got his American debut in the movie “City of God” (remember Knockout Ned?) and his musical entrance in the movie “The Life Aquatic”. Jorge has a natural charm, despite singing in his native language of Portuguese, any listener cannot resist. These songs are emotive-driven and pleasing to the ears.
